Spirituality Week 2026: Celebrating Our Wonderful World and Looking to the Future

‘We are one family: Love for ourselves, for each other and for the world’

This year’s Spirituality Week was inspired by the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough and his lifelong passion for helping us appreciate and protect our wonderful world. Throughout the week, the children explored some of life’s ‘Big Questions’, thinking deeply about their futures, the world around them and the positive impact they can have on others.

As part of our exploration of future aspirations, we were delighted to welcome parents and members of our school community into school to talk about their careers. These visits gave the children valuable insight into a wide range of professions and encouraged them to think about the many possibilities that lie ahead.

A particular highlight of the week was our grandparents’ (and relatives') tea party. The children enjoyed spending time with their grandparents. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of family, community and the connections that help shape who we are.

The children also considered what it means to keep themselves and others safe, both now and in the future. They took part in important learning around online safety, the NSPCC PANTS programme and railway safety, helping them to understand how making safe choices today can protect their wellbeing in years to come.

Alongside their learning, the children demonstrated our school values through action by taking part in a sponsored run to raise money for Julia’s House. The event supported Mrs Tennant as she prepares for her charity trek in September, helping to raise funds for the incredible work Julia’s House does for local children and families.

Spirituality Week provided a wonderful opportunity for our children to reflect on their place in the world, consider their hopes for the future, appreciate the people who support them and recognise the importance of caring for both themselves, others and the world. It was a week filled with curiosity, reflection, community spirit and inspiration.
