RE

As stated in the Church of England Religious Education Statement of Entitlement, religious education in a Church school should enable every child to flourish and to live life in all its fullness. (John 10:10).

At Stoborough School, the pupils and their families can expect an RE curriculum that enables pupils to acquire a rich, deep knowledge and understanding of Christian belief and practice. We use the Understanding Christianity resources, where pupils learn through exploring key theological concepts e.g. Gospel, Incarnation, Salvation, Kingdom of God, Creation and Fall. In the Foundation Stage children enjoy learning through the Solihull R.E. Scheme, as well as through stories about the Reverend Fisher and his cat Puddles.

Pupils are encouraged to be creative and to explore and question the world in which they live. At Stoborough School we understand how important it is for children to reflect, analyse, discuss and discover.

RE at Stoborough Primary School also develops cultural awareness and helps us to empathise and understand people from different faiths and traditions. Pupils study Judaism and Islam across the school as well as Hinduism in Key Stage 2. We also explore Humanist views as we encounter key concepts as we believe it is important that we understand the beliefs and traditions of those who live alongside us; locally, nationally and globally.

We firmly believe that RE is about growing as a person; asking and answering the big questions in life and developing views and beliefs, which are supported by reasoned argument and opinion.
