Our schools manage allergies in accordance with our First Aid and Medical Conditions, Managing Medication and Allergy Policy which can be found on our policy pages here.
Our schools are ‘Allergy Aware’; this means that school staff have an awareness of allergies and the 14 key allergens; they understand how to deal with an anaphylactic episode and encourage pupils, visitors and parents to be allergy aware and ensure that their staff have a good awareness of allergens and how to manage a safe environment.
All the meals we provide are nutritionally balanced and meet stringent government guidelines. Information about the menu and details of all allergens along with the process for ordering meals are on Arbor. Meals must be ordered at least a week in advance and can be done for a whole term if preferred.
Vegetarian diets are provided and most special dietary requirements can be catered for.
If a special diet is required, for example because of an allergen or medical condition, please contact the school office.
We are very proud to have our own school cook, Miss Jones, who prepares all school meals. She is supported in the kitchen by our kitchen assistant Miss Major. We are one of the only schools in Dorset who independently run our school kitchen, which enables us to craft healthy, balanced and seasonal menus, using government and school food standards guidelines.
Each day, there is a main and vegetarian meal option, followed by the dessert of the day or fresh fruit.
Being an eco school, we like to keep our food miles as low as possible. All of our fresh meat comes from the local butchers in Wareham.
School meals are free for all of our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children under the Universal Free School Meals scheme.
