Safeguarding

At Stoborough CE Primary School, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child are paramount. We are committed to providing a safe, caring and supportive environment in which all children feel secure, valued and able to thrive.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All members of staff have a responsibility to identify children who may need help or protection and to take appropriate action. Our staff receive regular safeguarding training and know how to recognise and respond to concerns about a child’s welfare.

Our safeguarding practice is underpinned by the latest statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children means:

providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

We work closely with parents and carers and, where appropriate, with other professionals and agencies to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time. We also teach children how to keep themselves and others safe, including through our curriculum, online safety education and personal, social and health education.
